Academic Content and Curriculum of Faculty of Dentistry Undergraduate Program

The academic content and curriculum of the Faculty of Dentistry Undergraduate Program is designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills through a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach. The curriculum of the program covers a wide range of topics from the basic sciences of dentistry to clinical practice.

At the beginning of the program, the focus is on basic medical sciences. During this period, students receive basic training in subjects such as human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and microbiology. These courses are essential for understanding the biological basis of dental practice. In addition, courses such as general pathology and pharmacology are also taught during this phase so that students learn the causes and treatment methods of diseases.

In the second and third years, students are introduced to more specific areas of dentistry. During this period, courses such as restorative dental treatments, periodontology, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery and orthodontics are emphasized. These courses provide students with in-depth knowledge of various aspects of dental and oral health and help them develop their clinical skills.

The fourth and fifth years are usually dedicated to clinical training. During this period, students have the opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into practice by working on real patients. During clinical periods, students acquire critical skills such as patient examination, diagnosis, treatment planning and performing various dental treatments. These practical experiences enhance students' professional competencies and prepare them for their professional life after graduation.

Throughout the program, students are also introduced to areas such as oral health education, communication skills with patients and ethical issues. These courses are designed to enable dentists to communicate effectively with their patients and act in accordance with professional ethical standards.

The curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Dentistry program provides students with both a solid theoretical foundation and extensive practical experience, equipping them for a successful career in dentistry. This program enables students to master modern dental practice and cope with the challenges they will face in their professional lives.
