Academic Content and Curriculum of Field Crops - Undergraduate Undergraduate Program

The academic content of the Field Crops Undergraduate Program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in agricultural sciences and, in particular, in field crops cultivation. The curriculum is based on understanding the biological and ecological bases of crop production, developing sustainable agricultural techniques and gaining the ability to apply modern agricultural technologies.

The program usually starts with basic science courses during a four-year undergraduate education. In addition to general science courses such as biology, chemistry and physics, more specific courses such as soil science, plant physiology and genetics are also included in this part of the program. After being equipped with basic knowledge in the first year, students move on to more specialized subjects.

In the second and third years, in-depth knowledge is acquired in fields such as field crops cultivation, plant nutrition, pest and disease control, agricultural biotechnology, irrigation methods. During this period, students are encouraged to specialize according to their interests by taking elective courses. At the same time, students have opportunities to put their theoretical knowledge into practice through laboratory studies and field experiences.

The fourth year is usually focused on specialized topics and the dissertation. Students develop and implement a research project in line with their own interests with the guidance of an advisor. In the process, students develop independent study, problem solving and research skills. The dissertation demonstrates how students have applied their acquired knowledge and skills in a concrete project and provides an opportunity to showcase their academic abilities.

The teaching materials and methods used throughout the training process aim to provide students with up-to-date information and integrate them with the ever-evolving agricultural technologies. Teaching materials include articles from various scientific journals, industry reports, case studies and modern agricultural software. In addition, it is aimed to provide students with competence in foreign languages such as English in order to find solutions to global agricultural problems and to work at international standards.

Thanks to this rich and versatile curriculum, graduates of the Field Crops Undergraduate Program are trained with the necessary knowledge and skills in various fields of the agricultural sector.
