The History Teaching Undergraduate Program has a rich and comprehensive academic content. The curriculum of the program includes both courses that provide an in-depth understanding of the science of history and pedagogical courses that prepare students for the teaching profession. During the four years of study, students graduate with historical knowledge and pedagogical skills.
The first year usually begins with basic history courses and general education courses. During this year, students learn the general framework of the science of history through basic courses such as Introduction to History, Ancient History, Medieval History, Modern History and Contemporary History. In addition, educational sciences and general culture courses are also given during this period. Courses such as Educational Psychology, Teaching Principles and Methods enable students to acquire basic knowledge about the teaching profession.
The second year continues with a more detailed study of historical periods. Courses such as Ottoman History, European History, Asian History and American History offer students the opportunity to understand historical processes in different geographical and cultural contexts. Pedagogical courses such as Measurement and Evaluation in Education and Classroom Management are also taken during this year. In the third year, more specific historical topics and research methods are emphasized. Courses such as History of the Republic, Ottoman Socio-Economic History, Historical Research Methods provide students with in-depth knowledge and the ability to analyze. In addition, courses such as instructional technologies and material development contribute to learning modern teaching techniques. In this semester, students also gain experience in academic research, thesis preparation and scientific writing techniques.
The fourth year is completed with teaching practice and advanced history courses. Students reinforce their teaching skills with courses such as History Education and Teaching, New Approaches in Education. In addition, the School Experience and Teaching Practicum courses in the last year of the program enable students to practice in real classroom settings. Through these practicum courses, students develop teaching skills such as lesson planning, lecturing, student evaluation and gain professional experience.

For example, courses such as Ottoman Art History, Modern European History, Drama in Education enable students to gain in-depth knowledge in specific fields.
