Academic Content and Curriculum of Mineral Processing Engineering Undergraduate Program

The academic content and curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Mineral Processing Engineering is designed to provide students with the basic and technical knowledge of the mining industry. The program generally includes basic engineering knowledge as well as specialized courses related to mineral processing and mining.

In the initial phase of the program, students are introduced to basic sciences and engineering principles. In this phase, basic courses such as physics, chemistry and mathematics are taught, as well as general engineering courses, such as materials science, thermodynamics and mechanics. These courses provide the foundation for students to understand and analyze engineering problems.

At advanced levels of the program, specialized courses related to mineral processing engineering are emphasized. These courses include mineralogy (the study of the properties and classification of minerals), crystallography (the study of the structure and properties of crystals), mineral processing techniques, flotation (the process of separating minerals from ores), magnetic separation, underground and surface mineral beneficiation methods. In addition, contemporary engineering problems such as mine waste management, environmental impact assessment and sustainable mining are also included in the curriculum.

Another important component of the program is hands-on training. Students have opportunities to put their theoretical knowledge into practice and work on real-world engineering problems through laboratory courses and technical trips. In addition, students are offered the opportunity to do industrial internships. These internships allow students to gain experience in real working environments in the industry.

The curriculum of the Mineral Processing Engineering program aims to provide students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for a career in the mining industry. Graduates are prepared to assume critical roles in the economically and environmentally efficient processing and utilization of mineral ores. The program also provides students with the ability to adapt to continuous changes and developments in the mining industry and to develop innovative solutions.
