The academic content of the Turkish Language and Literature Teaching Undergraduate Program offers students a comprehensive education, focusing on the basic building blocks of Turkish language and literature. The program consists of many different modules such as linguistics, literary history, critical theory and pedagogical formation. The curriculum usually includes courses that last for four years and progressively develop students' knowledge and skills each year.
Linguistics and grammar courses: In these courses, phonological (phonetics and phonology), morphological (morphology), structural (syntax) and semantic (semantics) features of Turkish language are discussed in detail. In addition, the historical development, dialects and dialects of the Turkish language are also examined.
Literature Lessons: Different periods of Turkish literature (old Turkish literature, Tanzimat literature, Servet-i Fünun literature, national literature, republican literature and contemporary Turkish literature) are covered in detail. In these courses, important literary movements, authors and works are emphasized and students learn to analyze literary texts.
Critical Theory and Text Analysis Lectures: This module teaches techniques for analyzing literary texts using a variety of critical approaches. You will work with various modern critical theories such as structuralism, post-structuralism, feminist criticism and postcolonial criticism.
Pedagogical Formation Courses: These courses focus on the theoretical and practical aspects of the teaching profession. Students gain knowledge on topics such as classroom management, assessment and evaluation, instructional technologies, psychology of learning and special education. These courses aim to enhance students' competence as teachers and develop their ability to deliver effective lessons in a variety of teaching environments.
Turkish Folk Literature and Children's Literature Courses: The basic features of Turkish folk literature, prose and verse forms, anonymous and owned folk literature products are examined. Children's literature courses focus on the characteristics of literary works written especially for children and how to use these works in education.
The curriculum of the program is designed to develop both the academic knowledge and teaching skills of the students.
