Introduction

Canakkale is strategically located in northwestern Turkey, between the Marmara and Aegean Seas. Situated in the Straits region, Canakkale is known for its historical and geopolitical importance as a bridge connecting the continents of Asia and Europe. The city is spread on both sides of the Dardanelles, from which it takes its name, and this gives it a unique diversity of landscape and climate. The climate is generally Mediterranean, with hot and dry summers and mild and rainy winters. The average annual temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius.

Canakkale's vegetation is rich and diverse. While mostly Mediterranean vegetation is seen around the Saros Gulf in the north of Marmara, mixed forests and steppes dominate inland. This diversity is due to the different climatic conditions of the region.

In terms of demographic structure, the population of Canakkale province is approximately 540,000. Most of the population lives in the center of Canakkale and the surrounding districts. The historical and natural beauties of the city attract local and foreign tourists, which has an impact on the demographic structure.

In terms of cost of living and quality of life, Canakkale offers a more affordable and quiet life compared to other major metropolitan areas in Turkey. Generally, agriculture, fishing and tourism form the basis of the city's economy. Olives, wine production and seafood are among the prominent economic activities.

In terms of health services, Canakkale has both public hospitals and private health institutions. The health infrastructure in the city is sufficient to meet the needs of the population.

Transportation to the city is provided by road and sea. Its close location to Istanbul and ferry services to important districts such as Eceabat and Gelibolu facilitate access to the city. Urban transportation is provided by bus and minibus lines. There are also bicycle paths and hiking trails in the city.

Canakkale's local cuisine includes the rich flavors of the Aegean and Marmara cuisines. Olive oil dishes, seafood and local wines contribute to the region's gastronomic tourism.

In terms of tourism, the historical battlefields on the Gallipoli Peninsula and Anzac Cove are of great importance for visitors. Ancient cities such as Assos and Troy and the Kaz Mountains with their natural beauty are other important tourist attractions.

Advantages of living in the city include a peaceful living environment, low cost of living and access to rich natural resources, while disadvantages include limited employment opportunities in some districts and limited entertainment options. Canakkale is a remarkable city with both historical and natural beauties.
