Introduction

Gumushane is a province located in the Black Sea Region of Turkey, known for its natural beauty and historical texture. The geographical location of the province, its relations with the surrounding provinces and its natural structure make Gumushane an interesting place to both live and visit. Gumushane is located between mountain ranges running in the east-west direction and the region is characterized by a typical mountainous area. This mountainous structure also affects the climate of the city; winters in Gumushane are cold and snowy, while summers are cool. While the average annual temperature usually varies around 10°C, precipitation is more intense especially in spring and fall.

The city's vegetation is covered with rich forests and alpine meadows. This natural structure helps preserve Gumushane's flora and fauna and provides an excellent background for nature tourism. The demographic structure of Gumushane is generally characterized by a high concentration of locals and small migration rates. The majority of the population lives in the provincial center and surrounding towns and villages. Gumushane's population is generally dominated by the elderly population as young people usually migrate to larger cities for education or job opportunities.

The city's economy is primarily based on agriculture, animal husbandry and mining. In addition, the tourism sector, which has been developing in recent years, also contributes significantly to the economy. Agricultural products such as apples and walnuts are quite common in Gumushane and these products have an important place in the local economy. Gumushane's traditional cuisine is rich with local flavors and organic agricultural products. Products such as pestil, kome, walnut sausage are well-known throughout Turkey and these products are often exhibited in local markets and festivals.

Although Gumushane has more limited resources than neighboring provinces in terms of health services, it has the capacity to provide basic health services. Hospitals and health centers provide sufficient services to meet the needs of the people of the region.

Transportation involves some difficulties due to the mountainous structure of Gumushane. However, road transportation connects the city with other regions. Especially its proximity to Trabzon provides an advantage for air transportation. Urban transportation is mostly provided by private vehicles and minibuses. Infrastructure is developing and transportation and communication facilities are improving with the investments made in recent years, increasing the tourism potential of the region.

The advantages of living in Gumushane include the opportunity to live a quiet life in a peaceful nature, while the disadvantages include limited economic opportunities and the tendency of the young population to migrate. Nevertheless, Gumushane continues to attract attention with its natural beauties, cultural richness and tranquil living environment.
