Climate of Province Karabük

Karabük has a typical Black Sea climate due to its location in the Western Black Sea region of Turkey. This climate usually manifests itself under mild and humid conditions. Temperature changes throughout the year show a balanced transition according to the seasons rather than being too drastic. The summer months are mild, with temperatures generally ranging between 20°C and 30°C. Winter starts relatively mild, but temperatures can drop below zero degrees Celsius in January and February. In the coldest months, the average temperature varies between 0°C and 5°C.

Karabuk's rainfall regime is quite distinct and rainy days are observed for most of the year. The most precipitation is usually received in the fall and winter months. Precipitation continues in spring and summer, but the amount decreases. The average annual rainfall is around 1000 mm, making the region one of the most humid regions of Turkey. Due to the high humidity, the air is cool and humid most of the time, which makes the summer heat less noticeable.

Winds usually blow from the north and northeast, which increases the effect of the cool and humid air coming from the Black Sea. Especially in winter, winds blowing from the north can further reduce the feeling of warmth and bring cold waves.

These climatic conditions play a decisive role on the natural life and vegetation of Karabük. High humidity and abundant rainfall support the development of broad-leaved forests and various plant species. It also offers favorable conditions for agricultural activities, but sometimes excessive rainfall can cause erosion and negatively affect agricultural lands.

The climate of Karabük directly affects the quality of life in the city. High humidity can pave the way for some health problems, especially respiratory diseases and allergies may be more common. However, cool summers offer welcome relief, especially for those who want to escape from hot climates. In winter, the need for heating increases, leading to seasonal increases in energy consumption. Overall, however, Karabük's mild climate provides a comfortable and pleasant environment for living.
