Karabük is located in the Black Sea Region of Turkey and its demographic structure has been significantly shaped by industrialization processes from the past to the present. As of 2022, the population of the province is approximately 250,000 people. Most of the population is concentrated in the central district of Karabük, while the rest is distributed in Safranbolu, Yenice and other districts.
When the population structure of Karabük is analyzed, it is seen that the rate of young population is parallel to the average of Turkey. Depending on education and job opportunities, the presence of young and middle-aged people in the city is remarkable. The university is one of the important factors that increase the young population of the city and this situation also affects the social and cultural dynamics in the city. In addition, migration to the city is often driven by job and education opportunities.
Karabuk's demographic structure is characterized by socioeconomic diversity. While there is a working class working in heavy industry and production sectors, there are also small tradesmen, service sector workers and professionals living in the city. This diversity enriches the economic structure and social character of the city.
In terms of ethnic diversity, Karabük has a predominantly Turkish population as well as people of various ethnic origins. However, these groups do not constitute a large proportion of the overall population. In terms of religion, the vast majority of Karabük's inhabitants are Muslim and there are several mosques in the city.
While the population living in rural areas is engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry, people in the city center work mostly in the industrial and service sectors. This creates differences in lifestyles and social structure within the city. Economic and social differences are observed between urban and rural areas, but today these differences are decreasing and a more balanced structure is gradually being achieved through regional development policies. Karabük has a dynamic demographic structure and constantly renews its population by receiving more migration compared to the neighboring regions with its industrial and educational opportunities.
