Introduction

Igdir is located in one of the easternmost regions of Turkey, bordering Ararat, Kars, Armenia and Nakhchivan. Geographically, the city is a combination of mountainous and flat areas, and is located in the valley of the Aras River, which is also one of the highest in Turkey. The climate is continental, with hot and dry summers and cold and snowy winters. The average annual temperature is usually around 30°C in summer and can drop below zero in winter.

The vegetation of the city is generally steppe in character. However, agricultural activities are common on the fertile lands along the Aras River and these areas are suitable for various agricultural products.
